Magazine Identity: Thoth.
A design for a magazine that uses books from the past and present to talk about issues in today's world. Using typography, images, and other features to create a identity system that can be recognized and used for multiple iterations.
Research & Process Work
When I began this project, I was given the task of developing a concept that I wanted to talk about and create in a magazine format. I started my research on books and which one I wanted to use for the magazine that would best suited for the topics I wanted to discuss Then, I was told to ideate about what a title, or wordmark, would be for that kind of topic.

Concept: Thoth.
Thoth is a Contemporary, provocative and informative magazine that uses works from the past and relates it to today’s world. It’s a magazine that will make the reader sit back and reflect with its use of images and thought-provoking statements. It is reflective and uses the past to foreshadow the future. Its main audience is anyone who is intrigued by reading, as the magazine brings light to new and incoming authors, while also using well known writers to illustrate its major topics.

Digital Iterations
When I transferred to digital, I decided to iterate with different fonts to see which would be the best for my concept and wordmark.

Spread Iterations
When starting my spreads, I was really drawn to using big letterforms and words to "shout" in the reader's face. I want to experiment and think of different abstract ways to express my ideas and "big statements" that I wanted to make.
